President Peter T. Mitchell 2024 LUX FIAT AWARD Application

The Lux Fiat Award bears the name of the motto of Albion College and recognizes seniors who have served as role models or "beacons of light" for their peers. The award honors four students who have excelled in the areas of academic achievement, commitment to diversity, service to the Albion community, and campus involvement. The Lux Fiat honor was created to celebrate and make examples of these students who exemplify the principles and traditions of Albion College.

Award Criteria
The award criteria include academic achievement, commitment to diversity, service to the Albion community, and campus involvement as a reflection of the values and/or goals that define the Albion College community. All members of the Class of 2024 who have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher are eligible to apply for the award.

Award Selection
Award recipients will be selected to represent a wide variety of campus life and to serve as role models for graduating classes to come. The award is sponsored and administered by the Albion College Office of Campus Life. The selection committee will consist of staff, faculty and students representing the first year, sophomore and junior classes. The award will be announced at the annual Campus Life Leadership Recognition Program in April.

Applications are due by Friday, April 5, 2024.

Essay: Please submit an essay that includes your personal growth and the impact you have made as a student leader while at Albion College in each of the following four areas:
1) Academic excellence
2) Commitment to diversity
3) Service to the Albion community
4) Campus involvement

Essays need to be in PDF Form, double spaced and not more than 4 pages.

I am requesting that the Student Development Office release my cumulative grade point average (CGPA) along with my academic and social status to the Campus Life Office for the purpose of selecting the Lux Fiat award. I acknowledge that I am not eligible to become a Lux Fiat recipient unless I have a 3.0 CGPA or higher. In addition I acknowledge I am not on academic or social probation.
